Thank You For A Wonderful 2009 Festival

Thank you all, once again, for contributing your time and resources to the Health and Martial Arts Festival. As far as I can tell, a good time was had by all.  Comments on the evaluations were full of high praise: "Best I've ever been to!"   "Awesome"  "You've done a fabulous job"  "Excellent" "I can't believe how great this is."  (Full emails are below.)

To get a taste of the variety, take a peek at the video of many of the workshop leaders all doing different forms at the same time: <click here>

We are also currently compiling the improvement suggestions that were on the evaluations (all great ideas!). We will also be starting to plan for next Festival, which we've decided to hold in 2011. We will be contacting everyone to find out for which tasks they would like to volunteer. I suspect that this will be one of those bi-annual events that, thirty years from now, people will be saying "I was there when....", so you might want to hold on to those program guides and other momentos. Don't forget to contact all of your friends and health professionals and tell them what a great time you had so that they can start planning to come next year.

Once again, we thank you all for sharing so much, and we look forward to next year.

Peace,  CJ Rhoads

Location and Details

The 2011 Health and Martial Arts Festival will be hosted by the Tai Chi Club of Kutztown University. It will be held at Kutztown University in Kutztown PA.  Kutztown is about 50 miles north west of Philadelphia, and 80 miles due east from New York, New York.

Enthusiasts Choice Awards

There are not enough rewards in this world, so the Taijiquan Enthusiasts Organization plans to do its part to recognize those among us who go the extra mile, put forth the extra effort, and demonstrate extra ethics. This year we got enough nominations for two awards: Instructor of the Year (which we had to combine with Grand Instructor of the year because we didn't have enough nominations separately) and Taiji Event Promoter of the Year. [we also got one nomination for Research of the Year (Dr. Yang Yang), but because there was only one, we will hold on to that until next year and hopefully we will get more.]  For 2011 we are hoping to get enough nominees to award up to 25 different categories, so start thinking about who you would like to nominate, and for what.  Nominations will be solicited in August of 2010.

WINNERS FOR 2009

Instructors of the Year: Betsy Scott Chapman and Christopher Viggiano

Promoter of the Year: David Elston Phillips

Spread the word - you can help

You can help spread the word about the 2011 Health and Martial Arts Festival.  One thing you can do is spread the word about the Festival and encourage people to save the dates in their schedule (May 20, 21, and 22, 2011) .

You can also look for someone to become a sponsor and place an ad in the program.  Here is further information: Sponsorship Opportunities

You can also encourage people to become members so they can volunteer and vote for their favorite for the Enthusiasts Choice awards.

Also sign up for a user name on this website so you can add your comments and events.

And don't forget to join the TJQE !   If you are a member, you can volunteer for the Festival and/or cast your vote for the Enthusiasts Choice Awards.
